VWSA to organize a Workshop on Water Safety Plan for the period 2014 – 2016

Applying WSP faces some difficulties and challenges such as: up to now, only 7 pilot companies have been selected to apply WSP. Positives results have not been replicated yet. At other urban water supply companies, WSP has not been applied or applied but do not achieve significant results. Meanwhile, there are advanced water supply technologies (in term of management, measuring equipment, water quality monitoring, ect.) in WSP, which requires new approaches of lesson learnt from developed countries. The VWSA recognizes that, to apply WSP in reality, besides replication of models, experiences exchange is very important. A workshop to evaluate the current status of applying WSP, experiences sharing nationally and internationally and developing a working plan for VWSA&;s members on applying WSP for the period 2014 – 2016 is needed.

German experts from the Project German-Vietnamese Cooperation (GWP - VWSA) for the Competence Development of the Vietnamese Water Sector (DEVIWAs), sponsered by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) via SEQUA  and representatives from donor agencies with be invited to join the workshop.

The workshop is expected to be held in Vung Tau City on 22/8/214 with the participation of Thua Thien Hue Water Supply Company, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Water Supply Company and Hai Phong Water Supply Company, 3 pilots companies which are successfully applied the WSP model.
