Association kicks off international twinning program

Australia&;s water expertise is now enabling Vietnam&;s water utility sector to achieve their water reform objectives with the launch of a twinning program between five Australian utilities and five Vietnamese utilities including

Son La Water Company - Cairns Regional Council
Saigon Water - Seqwater
Binh Duong - Wannon Water, Victoria
Phu Tho - Coliban Water, Victoria
Hue Water Corporation - Water Corporation of Western Australia

The principal objective of the twinning program is to take forward key water reform objectives of the Vietnam Government in its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) aimed at universal access to safe and clean water. It will achieve this by offering Australian expertise to water utilities in Vietnam in their delivery of safe and reliable water and wastewater services.

Australian utilities are well placed to support Vietnam utilities on these issues, said Paul Smith, Australian Water Association International Manager, as many of these issues are similar to ones Australia has faced in the past.

The twinning program has been funded by the Australian Water Partnership which will include a special Australian-Vietnam twinning program at Ozwater'17.
