Workshop on „German-Vietnamese experience sharing workshop on association development“.

Ho Chi Minh City – 18 – 19/2/2014 - Within framework of the Project German-Vietnamese Cooperation for the Competence Development of the Vietnamese Water Sector (DEVIWAS project), sponsered by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) via SEQUA, the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) and German Water Partnership (GWP) organized a 2-day workshop „German-Vietnamese experience sharing workshop on association development“.
More than 70 participants coming from German International Cooperation (GIZ), Ministry of Construction (MoC), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), VWSA members as companies in water sector, vocational training centers, etc. Mr. Cao Lai Quang, Vice Minister of MoC, Chairman of VWSA chaired the workshop. The international participants includes of Mr. Friedrich Barth – Director of GWP, Mr. Christian Henschel – Technical Advisor of the Wastewater and Solid Waste Management Programme (WMP - GIZ), Mrs.  Beate Dippmar- Vice Technical Advisor of the TVET Programme - GIZ.

The key objectives of this workshop were:

(1) Announcement of the survey report on human resource, training need in water sector and VWSA&;s assessment;

(2) Collecting feedback, comments for the first draft of the VWSA strategy;

(3) Sharing German – Vietnamese experience about association development;

(4) Development of the action plan in 2014 within VWSA – GWP cooperation.

All above objectives have been achieved and appreciated by participants because of an intensive and diversified content. The entrepreneurs agreed with the survey result and provided valuable feedbacks to the VWSA strategy. Lessons learnt and experience sharing by GWP regarding to association development have been assessed by VWSA as suitable and feasible advices in Vietnam context and VWSA actual status. Apart from initial objectives, participants have given a fact regarding to inadequate standards in water sector. This will not only steer activities of DEVIWAS in coming time, but also provide a new and potential cooperation perspective between GWP and VWSA.
