Vietnamese-German Water Forum in Hanoi

The Federal Republic of Germany has become one of Vietnam's leading political and economic partner in the European Union (EU). The two countries have had bilateral cooperation in the fields of industry, science - technology and education... with many projects being implemented effectively, including ones in water supply and drainage.

With support and consent of the German Embassy to Vietnam, from 19th -20th March 2019, Hanoi People&;s Committee, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) and German Water Partnership (GWP) co-organize the "Vietnamese-German Water Forum in Hanoi” at Melia Hotel (No. 44b Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi).

Attending the Forum, there are about 150 delegates, including: officials from ministries, government agencies, and Hanoi People&;s Committee units, Embassy of German to Vietnam, organizations, associations, businesses operating in the water supply and drainage sector of Vietnam and Germany, together with a large number of press agencies and public media.

"Vietnamese-German Water Forum in Hanoi" aims to introduce to German businesses on investment environment and opportunities of Hanoi City water sector in order to promote and attract more direct foreign investment into Hanoi, to facilitate B-2-B networking of the two sides to help them seek for business opportunities to develop the water sector in Hanoi in particular, and Vietnam in general. This will also add value to the overall development of friendship and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

The Forum takes place in two days, with various activities and events, including:
 
Site visits to Ho Tay Waste Water Treatment Plant and Song Duong Water Treatment  Plan on the morning of 19th  March;
 
   

Policy dialogue with the theme” Water sector Investment Policies and Needs of Hanoi and Vietnam” in the afternoon of 19th  March, where delegates exchange views and discussions on Current status, incentives and needs for investment in water supply, wastewater treatment in Hanoi, opportunities and challenges of water sector in Viet Nam, Cooperation of Vietnam and Germany thru partnership beween VWSA and the GWP, as well as development of water sector in Germany and its experience on providing tap water and coping with problems such as storm-water flooding, etc;
 

 
Technical workshop and business networking with the theme “Technology renovation, needs and solutions for sustainable of water sector in Vietnam” on 20th March, where delegates exchange and do networking on possible technologies and solutions for Hanoi and Vietnam to tackle current emerging problems such as lake water pollution, tap water supply, etc.
 

 
The People's Committee of Hanoi City, VWSA and the GWP hope the forum will contribute to investment promotion, new and advanced technology introduction into water supply and drainage industry, so as to facilitate and tighten the collaboration between German and Vietnamese water-related businesses.
