Training Course on Operation and Maintenance Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Plants

To respond to the actual demand of wastewater operators in the Central Region of Vietnam, VWSA, with the support of WMP, organized the Training Course on Operation and Maintenance Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Plants on 13-15 September, 2016. The training course was hosted by Da Nang Drainage, Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment Company.

The training course attracted the participation of 27 trainees who are management, head of divisions, technicians from 11 entities active in wastewater management in the Central and Highland Region. Mr. Nguyen Van Tuoi – Deputy Manager of the Training Section, VWSA and Ms. Pham Thi Van Lan – Officer in charge of training of WMP attended and supervised the training. Three participants who were trained by the series of ToT of GIZ and VWSA acted as the trainers of this course. 

Before conducting the training, the trainees took part in an online survey on their demand and the results of the survey were then reflected in the agenda of the training course. The agenda covered the topics, among others, low cost wastewater treatment, characteristics of a low cost wastewater treatment plants, performance indicators, equipment and instruments for data collection, standard operating procedures, document management, O & M history, safety in the wastewater treatment plants… The training was delivered with learners- centered approach and generated a lot of discussion and experiences sharing.

The trainees had their practical sessions at the laboratory of Da Nang Drainage, Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment Company as well as Phu Loc and Tho Quang Wastewater Treatment Plants.

 After the training, they were all provided with Certificate of Attendance. They appreciated the training and expressed their interest in joining more training courses of VWSA.
