7/2015 – 3 courses on Leadership skills for leaders and managers of VWSA&;s members have been held by the VWSA, Phu Tho Water Supply Company and Southern Sewerage Branch, with the support of DEVIWAS Project, in Phu Tho (23 – 24/7), Hanoi (27 – 28/7) and Ba Ria – Vung Tau (30 – 317/), as part of activities to improving capacities of VWSA&;s members. With the participants of 120 trainees from 30 water utilities, consultancy companies and training centers in the North and the South, the courses provided opportunities for learners to update modern management skills, characteristics of good leaders, differences between leaders and managers and critical thinking when dealing with specific issues. Dr. Dieter Poschardt from Germany was the trainer of these courses.
The training approach was based on principles of adult learning with a focus on the trainees, with most of the time was focused on discussion and case studies. The trainees were actively discussed and presented their solutions on case studies relating to human resources management like conflict between generations, men and women, etc,. Through case studies, trainees leant how to think critically and assess logically for the core reasons and bring out flexible and suitable solutions.  Trainees were highly appreciated the training courses; commented that the knowledge provided are closely related with reality and expressed the hope to participate in other courses organized by the VWSA. On behalf of the VWSA, Mr. Pham Xuan Dieu – Head of Training Department thanked the active participation of trainees and stressed that, in the time to come, the VWSA will open many training courses and seminars based on the demand and suggestion of VWSA&;s members.
