A conference is co – hosted by National University of Civiil Engineering (NUCE), Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) and Water, Enginereing and Development Centre (WEDC), Loughborough University (UK) and will be held at UNCE, Hanoi, Vietnam.
Why attend the WEDC International Conference?
The policies and targets to replace the Millennium Development Goals post 2015, are being developed. Ambitious aspirations include universal access to water and sanitation services by 2030, which requires that our sector professionals are equipped with the skills and up to date knowledge to meet these challenges.
The WEDC International Conference is a comprehensive event, which seeks to catalyse this process, providing continued professional development appropriate to local contexts and international good practice.
The Conference provides a valuable and respected platform for reflection, debate and exchange, rooted in practice. The programme includes 3 days of peer-reviewed paper presentations and discussion, followed by 2 days of capacity development workshops and field visits which aim to develop skills and knowledge in topic areas that have been jointly identified as important with stakeholders.
The programme includes an exhibition, evening side events and an exciting social programme, all designed to maximise interaction and networking opportunities. We aim to include topics related to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in the broadest sense.
Papers and Discussion Sessions
From Monday to Wednesday a variety of papers will be presented and discussed. Papers will be grouped thematically, and sessions will include both briefing papers and refereed papers.
Briefing papers may be direct accounts of projects or programmes and aim to share successes and failure of approaches and field experiences including lessons learnt.
Refereed papers are more structured, incorporating new knowledge, clear methodology and process.
Lively and constructive discussions are common, such that experiences from the floor complement those presented and enhance the collective learning experience.
