Singing ceremony: Cooperation Competence development in water supply and sewerage

On February 3 in Hanoi, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA), Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and German Water Partnership (GWP) signed a memorandum partnership to deploy three programs on competence development in water supply and sewerage. This ceremony commemorates 40 years of German-Vietnamese relations.


 
Four representatives signed the memorandum partnership witnessed by Mr. Cao Lai Quang, Deputy Minister of Construction together with a number of representatives from organizations, enterprises and press included Mr. Tran Quang Hung, vice president of VWSA, Dr. Dirk Pauschert, senior advisor of the Wastewater Management Program (GIZ), Ms. Beate Dippmar, senior technical advisor of the Program Reform of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Viet Nam (GIZ), and Mr. Nguyen Dac Hoan, project manager of the project German Water Partnership (GWP) in Vietnam, an initiative for the cooperation.

Even though they hold different duties, GIZ and GWP perceive VWSA&;s role as crucial in consolidating and encouraging its members regarding knowledge, technology and management for the development of the water supply and drainage sector in Vietnam. 

With mutual benefit, the three projects together with VWSA agreed to achieve the following:

• Capacity building on wastewater courses meets the needs.

• VWSA becomes an efficient organization providing training on wastewater as well as a trust-worthy partner on strengthening capacity for relevant companies.

• Training courses of management, economics and technical issues of wastewater are financially efficiently used by the projects and VWSA.

By the cooperation and coordination of DEVIWAS, VWAS is expected to become a highly efficient service provider on the sewerage and wastewater treatment sector to its members. The program will provide a great quantity of tools and necessary methods in order to strengthen VWSA in techniques as well as human resources. Besides, training courses for the target group will be balanced and concise, and the funds from the German government will be effectively utilized the target group.
