General Meeting of the Northern Water Supply Branch, for the period 2014 – 2016

Hanoi - 15/7/2014, a General meeting of the Northern Water Supply Branch, VWSA for the period 2014 – 2016 has been held at the National Conference Center, My Dinh.

Mr. Cao Lai Quang – Vice Minister of Ministry of Construction (MoC), Chairman of VWSA, Mr. Tran Quang Hung, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary of VWSA, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Van – Deputy Head of Administration of Technical Infrastructure, MoC, etc. and more than 500 participants from 103 Northern Water Supply Branch ‘s members attended the meeting.  

The General Meeting approved the Report for the period 2012 – 2014 and a Working Plan for the period 2014 – 2016. According to the report, members have achieved production and revenue targets, expanded the water supply networks and reduced non-revenue water rate. Many companies invested in new technologies in water treatment, increased the volume of water supply, prevented water pollution. By 6/2014, the total connections to water supply companies of all members are 2.775.260 households, increased 14,35% compared to the same period in 2012. Companies has set the target to reduce the rate of non-revenue water rate to less than 25% by 2015. Currently, most members in the water supply sector are one member limited companies, joint stock companies and operating effectively after re-structuring. In 2013, the Branch has organized successfully a Workshop on experiences sharing of installing large diameter water supply pipelines; participating in Vietwater 2013 and other culture – sport activities. 

The General Meeting voted the Executive Board for the 2014 – 2016 period with 21 members. Mr. Vu Hong Duong – General Director of Hai Phong Water Supply Company will be the Chairman of the Branch. 

Vice Minister Cao Lai Quang congratulated success of the General Meeting and highly appreciated efforts of the Northern Water Supply Branch. Mr. Quang reminded companies to be careful in selecting investors and equipment supplying providers, avoiding the case of broking water pipelines from Da River to Hanoi.   

The General Meeting ended with 100% agreement of members on the XVII General Meeting Resolution, which is a symbol of unity among all members, striving for a more effective working period.
