Regional Workshop study on "Improving onsite sanitation and connection to sewers in Urban area in East Asia and the Pacific

The World Bank&;s Water and Sanitation Program is conducting a study on “IMPROVING ONSITE SANITATION AND CONNECTION TO SEWERS IN URBAN AREAS IN EAST ASIA AND THE PACIFIC”.

This study is conducted in Vietnam, Indonesia and focuses on surveys including social and technical surveys, analyses institutional, financial barriers and drivers that can help the governments of Vietnam, Indonesia as well as local governments and utilities managing the urban drainage and sewerage to have informed policies in addressing pollutions caused by urban wastewater to the environment. 

The Study is started in April 2014 and planned to be completed in December 2014. The Study includes (i) conduct independent studies in Vietnam and Indonesia for drafting the country reports, (ii) synthesize regional report from the country reports. Currently the draft country reports were developed and they will be presented for comment at separated national consultative workshops.

To develop the regional report, a regional workshop will be held REGIONAL WORKSHOP STUDY ON “IMPROVING ONSITE SANITATION AND CONNECTION with participation of representatives from the countries that conducted the study (Vietnam and Indonesia) and that will conduct study in near future (Philippines). The regional workshop is for presenting the findings from each country, sharing experiences during conducting the study as well as defining the common issues for the region and measures to address those issues.

The Water and Sanitation Program, in collaboration with Administration of Technical Infrastructure, Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and Vietnam Water and Sewerage Association is holding this regional workshop in Vietnam with following details:

Time: from November 26 to November 28, 2014

Venue: Novotel Premier Han Riverside Hotel – 36 Bạch Đằng street, Hải Châu district, Đà Nẵng.
