Establishment of Advisory Council of Sewerage and Waste Water Sector

On the morning of July 2, 2020 at the No. 1 Constructional College No. 1, there was a ceremony to announce the establishment of the Advisory Board of the Sewerage Engineering on collegial level.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Pham Xuan Dieu - Director of Training Center for Water Sector - Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuc - Rector of No. 1 Construction College; Ms. Dang Thuy Linh - Head of Component 3, Program Reform of TVET in Vietnam (TVET); representatives of Bac Ninh Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment JSC., Thai Nguyen Drainage and Urban Infrastructure Development One Member Limited  Company, Hai Phong Drainage One Member Limited  Company.

The Advisory Board of the Sewerage Engineering was established with 15 members who are leaders, managers and experts from Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, Program Reform of TVET in Vietnam (TVET), Constructional College No. 1 and a number of enterprises in the field of sewerage and wastewater treatment. The chairman of the Board is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuc - Rector of No. 1 Construction College.

The Board has the function of advising the Rector on admissions, organizing training, introducing jobs and connecting between the College with employers, business associations, and social - professional organizations, Reform of TVET in Vietnam. The activities of the Advisory Board aim at building cooperation among stakeholders to improve the quality of vocational education in the fields of Sewerage and wastewater treatment techniques.
 

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuc - Rector of Constructional College No. 1

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuc - Rector of No. 1 Construction College, said that the enrolment for occupation “Sewerage Engineering” is still difficult. This new occupation has not won a strong attention from the students, although many priorities in terms of tuition and learning conditions have been offered. He hopes that the Advisory Board will come up with many solutions to promote more interest of students in the occuption as well as closer connection between the college, businesses and professional social organizations.

According to representatives of the Sewerage and Wastewater Enterprises, training program on Sewerage Engineering is very important to deliver of qualified generation of sewerage engineering technicians. The professional trained graduates, who can quickly adapt to working environment in the enterprises, will be employed by enterprises immediately.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Xuan Dieu - Director of Vietnam Water Sector Training Center affirmed: This is a new vocational occupation with a high demand on qualified employees. Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association is ready to play a role of a bridge between the college and enterprises to improve the quality of human resources for Water Drainage sector.

Siging cooperation agreement  

At the announcement ceremony, the Board members approved the Constitution and Action Plan of the Advisory Board such as enrolment activities and the first modules of in-company training in this year.
