The 5th Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association’s Executive Committee Conference of the 5th Term (2015-2020)

On February 28, 2019, in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) successfully organized the 5th Executive Committee Conference of the 5th Term (2015-2020). Chairman Cao Lai Quang led the Conference.

Attending the Conference were all the members of VWSA's Executive Committee and the distinguished guests who had greatly contributed to the development of VWSA, relevant representatives of ministries and sectors, international organizations.

The Conference went through the summary report of VWSA's activities in 2018 and set out the direction and tasks for 2019.
 

 

 

Generally, in 2018, almost all of the tasks set out by VWSA&;s Executive Committee had been completed. Many tasks completed with good results, especially, the policy advocacy, training, international cooperation and implementation of international cooperation projects.

Through those, VWSA&;s role and reputation has been constantly improving. VWSA&;s regional water supply branches have been operating quite actively, contributing to encourage the employees to overcome difficulties to successfully complete the tasks set out.

Particularly, in 2018, VWSA successfully organized the 30th Anniversary of its establishment (1988 - 2018). The event was highly appreciated by international organizations, authorities, social attention and enterprises. In that spirit, VWSA&;s  branches and members have tried their best to complete the 2018 plan, contributed to the successful implementation of major targets of the sector. 

According to VWSA&;s 2018 report, total clean water supply capacity in the whole country reached 9 million m3/day and night; The rate of concentrated clean water supply reached 86% (increased 1.5% compared to 2017); The NRW rate  decreased to 21.5%; Total 46 wastewater treatment plants (increased of 5 plants compared to 2017); Total capacity of wastewater treatment was nearly 1 million m3/day and night. The equitization of water sector has been carried out as planned. The materials and equipment producing and trading, consulting and training companies in water supply, sewerage and drainage sector have grown; increasingly affirmed their trade brands, manufactured and supplied many high quality products with international standards which were commonly used by the companies in water sector.

From the successes of 2018, VWSA&;s Executive Committee discussed and agreed on 2019 plans and tasks. At the Conference, 06 members were additionally elected to the Executive Committee.

Taking this occasion, on February 28, VWSA organized the Exhibition on Materials and Equipment for water sector and the Workshop on Water Supply, Sewerage, Drainage and Environment.
