Training courses on How to plan a medium and long-term development strategy for Utilities in the context of Industry 4.0, Hanoi & Can Tho 19, 20, 23, 24 November 2018

Under the framework of DEVIWAS Project, in Hanoi from 19th to 20th November, and in Can Tho from 23th to 24th November 2018, the VWSA&;s Training Centre organized two training courses on “How to plan a medium and long-term development strategy for utilities in the context of Industry 4.0” for water supply and drainage enterprises.

These training courses were organized with the aim of sharing practical experiences as well as technical basis for leaders and managers of water supply and drainage enterprises to develop medium and long-term development plans to meet requirement of Industry 4.0. The lecturer of both courses was Mr. Strothteicher- Senior expert of DEVIWAS project from Germany. Mr. Strothteicher has rich experience on water supply and drainage, and is currently the Executive Director of one of the largest wastewater treatment companies in Germany - Stadtentwässerung Dresden GmbH.

The training in Hanoi attracted 38 trainees, who were board directors/members, directors/deputy directors, heads/chiefs of finance-accounting departments, and heads of the investment, planning & technical departments coming from 7 companies operating in the water supply and drainage fields in the North. On the other hand, the Can Tho training attracted 50 trainees of same levels, coming from 13 water supply, drainage and environment enterprises in the South. 

The German expert introduced to all participants the background on planning and developing plan for restoration and maintenance of drainage systems, then shared respective practical experience of Stadtentwässerung Dresden GmbH. Practical examples and lessons on the application of different processing technologies, plans to build a comprehensive re-development compound with troubleshooting measures, technical and financial issues as well as information technology application in comprehensive investment and management planning, etc. had been all incorporated into lecture sessions.

The course content and delivery skill of the lecturer are highly evaluated by trainees as they put it “very practical and effective, providing a lot of useful information and experience for practical works in water enterprises. At the end of trainings, all trainees were awarded with the VWSA certificate of attendance.
